At first glance of this piece I really enjoyed the feel of it. The pose reminded me of a classical biblical portrait of Mary, it is peaceful and angelic.I also liked that it looked like a line drawing until you get closer to the piece and realize that it is made from a bunch of paper clips. I think Jess successfully was able to take a material that one wouldn't necessarilly consider beautiful and she transformed it into something that is. I really appreciated the fact that she took the time to shape each line to create a kind of landscape of a face. Overall I really appreciated Jess's effort and usage of materials in this project, even the use of black paper was smart in that is made the paper clips stand out more. I think my only critique would be that once you are up really close you are able to see some holes that were poked where paper clips once were. And while its interesting to see the artists process, I think it would just be a little bit cleaner if you didn't see them. But overall really great piece!
